Newspaper article Evening Chronicle Newcastle, England. PLUSH city centre apartments were turned into seedy hour brothels by an escort boss who controlled more than 50 prostitutes, a court heard. Paul Roy ran a lucrative online escort agency with the help of 'business manager' and former sex worker, Emily Payne. They rented at least eight flats in Newcastle city centre and turned them into brothels, with working girls on a rota around the clock.
Newcastle Crown Court heard hundreds of thousands of pounds passed through bank accounts controlled by Roy between and Now the year-old has been jailed for 16 months while Payne, 39, was locked up for eight months. Payne, who used to work as an escort called Gina, managed the day-to-day operations of the business and went on to run another website, Newcastle In Calls.
They were charging clients PS an hour or PS for the whole evening with one of the girls, most of who were in their early 20s. Tim Gittins, prosecuting, said: "The Escorts North East website said the girls were available for in calls in Newcastle at luxury apartments or out calls in Gateshead and the North East. Most of them were in terms which did not leave it to the imagination about the services they were providing.
Mr Roy had at least 50 women working as prostitutes, mainly on Escorts North East. Police were able to establish at least eight flats in Newcastle city centre which had been turned into brothels. Mr Gittins said: "The defendants used false names and records to secure the tenancies. They were mainly one or two bedroom flats rented out in privately owned residential blocks. An unknown error has occurred.
